Beginner Interval Trail Running

Ever wanted to try distance running, but not sure where to start? Or perhaps a little nervous about it? Have friends who run, but feel like you’ll slow them down? We all have to start somewhere – why not with us?!

Ever wanted to try distance running, but not sure where to start? Or perhaps a little nervous about it? Have friends who run, but feel like you’ll slow them down? We all have to start somewhere – why not with us?!

This event is specifically for people who want to learn how to start running or transition their walking into running. Interval running is a great way to start running and stick with it! Many people use this method to build up their running strength and endurance, and running on the trails helps to build agility and hone coordination.

We start with a 1:1 run/walk ratio and then pause at the trailheads to see if we need to adjust. We will run for about 3 miles total, and stick to a beginner pace on the running intervals.

Run will start by 6:30pm!

Trail Etiquette:
We are sharing the trails with walkers and mountain bikers. We will quickly go over some trail etiquette before each run.

Hydration:
Use your own judgment on bringing water on the run with you! At a minimum, hydrate well during the day and have water in your car for when we return.

Bugs:
Please bring bug spray with you and apply it before we go!

Sun:
The trails are wooded and do not have much sun exposure. Use your own judgment on whether you need sunglasses and sunscreen.

PLEASE NOTE: If Memorial has received heavy rains in the prior 48 hours, we may need to cancel this event or move it to the Lieberman trail if the hiking trails are closed. Please watch Facebook for updates!
