Let’s take Saturday morning and hike along the Buffalo Bayou. This is an easy, paved route. If the ground is not muddy, we will walk a stretch right by the side of the water.

What to Bring:

Bring water, a snack, sunglasses, hat, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen and insect repellent.  The park includes swamps and it’s starting to get buggy.

Dog Friendly:

Yes! Friendly pets are welcome on a leash.

Rain or Shine?

Houston weather changes so quickly.  We will make the call on Saturday morning. We will still hike in light rain.

About George Bush Park:

Named in honor of the 41st president of the United States George H.W. Bush,  the 7,800-acre park located on the far west side of Houston, serves as a major attraction and nature reserve.

The park hosts a large soccer field, a shooting range, and numerous pavilions, playgrounds, ponds and jogging trails.

The park has a system of jogging trails, many surrounded by swamps, forest, and bayous. Many of the trails follow the Buffalo Bayou, and biking is popular year round. The trail is well known for its flexibility in biking, many speed bikers ride the trails.
