Join us for a two-hour quick-paced hike. If you are planning on backpacking the Lone Star Hiking Trail in February this is a good opportunity to start training. To practice for backpacking, grab a bookbag, and fill it some weight. You might want to start with 5-15 lbs. Put some stuff, doesn’t matter what, in a bag. Walk around your house to see if it feels good. You don’t have to go big the first time. Just bring more than what you would normally bring for a hike.
If you’re not practicing for backpacking, just bring your water and have fun!
Wear tennis shoes or hiking boots (if you’re carrying weight, you’ll want a sturdy shoe), as it’s easy to bang a toe on a tree root. And, there’s some “elevation” in the park that you wouldn’t expect from just driving by. Remember to bring water; there are no water fountains along the trails.
