Mountain Biking: Brazos Bend
Let’s go biking in the scenic Brazos Bend State Park! This is beginner-friendly, as the trails are flat, mostly straight, and without obstacles.
Let’s go biking in the scenic Brazos Bend State Park! This is beginner-friendly, as the trails are flat, mostly straight, and without obstacles. Please bring $7 cash for the entrance fee (free for State Park Pass holders). Once we finish, we will join the hiking group for lunch with a picnic in the park..
Brazos Bend offers up to 37 miles in hiking and biking trails. We will meet at the eastern-most parking lot. Once you enter, follow the road until you reach the Nature Center. Then, take the first right, go down a bit, then take the first right again. You should cross a river. Continue down until you see a fork, then continue right and the parking lot will be near Whiteoak Trail.
The plan is to cover the eastern loop, which is approximately 6 miles long. If we are feeling good afterwards, we can continue on with more trails on the western side.
We will briefly go over basic trail etiquette, safety, and answer any questions people may have. Please bring the following:
• $7 for entrance fee (free if you have a SP pass)
• Helmet – REQUIRED. I have an extra if anyone needs to borrow.
• Water – bring a hydration pack or bottle
• Sunscreen – if needed
• Protective Eyewear: Sunglasses or safety glasses
• Packed Lunch – if you plan to join the picnic afterwards
