Learn Loose Leash Walking through Clicker Trainer Foundations
Give your dog a head start with 100% positive reinforcement training
When your dog has fun and enjoys training, your dog learns faster and retains the training longer. Our goal it to give your dog the foundation to handle situations he/she might encounter throughout the day.
If you want your dog to learn how to walk nicely on a leash, first your dog must know a few key things. After they have a foundation, the possibilities of what your dog can lead are endless!
During these training sessions, you will learn how to use a clicker to train your dog. You will teach your dog that the clicker is a good thing and good things happen when they hear the click. Through this type of training, your dog will learn faster and retain the training longer.
Once your dog understands the clicker (this usually take a few minutes) we’ll work on getting your dog’s attention, followed by responding to a cue. A cue is the signal that tells your dog which behavior they should offer. Such as a verbal sit or hand gesture indicating sit.
With these 2 foundation skills, we can start learning loose leash walking while we continue to learn the other 3 foundation skills; settle on a mat, offer a behavior and targeting.
Each class we will introduce a new level of training based on how your dog is progressing. Every dog learns at a different pace & the longer a bad behavior (pulling on the leash) was reinforced, the longer it might take to correct. Even though this is a group class, each person will get exercises based on where their dog is.

Is this your first time Clicker Training?
No problem! First time clicker trainers are welcome! We ask that you leave your dog home for your first class. The first step in clicker trainer is the trainer learning how to use the clicker. If you start using the clicker before you practiced, your dog might get frustrated which could make training more difficult.
So please, help you dog and yourself by leaving your dog at home for your first clicker training class.
Bring a chair if you would like to sit in between exercises.
After your first class, what should you bring?
- Your Dog – After your first class, your dog is welcome to join us!
- A crate is required. There might be times during the training where we need to practice or learn something without the dog. And since we will be working outside, it’s best if your dog has a secure place to go.
- Treats – do not feed our dog before class. Bring treats or dog food of different values. You know, the treats your dog will eat and the treats your dog goes CRAZY over.
- Toys – bring something to occupy your dog in between exercises. Something they like to play with. If you dog is not motivated by treats, bring the toys that motivate your dog.
- Water & Bowl – After eating all of these yummy treats, please bring some water and a bowl. We will be outside, so there might not be a place to fill the bowl. Bring water just in case.
- A chair for you – In between exercises, you might want a chair to sit in while we discuss what we will do next.
