“The full moon in July also is called the Thunder Moon because of the frequency of thunderstorms during this hot, dry month.” Nasa, Watch the Skies
Level of difficulty:
The walk is flat but you might encounter uneven spots or holes in the areas we’re walking.
What to bring:
– Water
– Tennis shoes or hiking shoes
– Flash light – if you don’t have a red light, please bring some red tissue paper to cover your light. Hopefully, the moon will provide enough light.
– Chair or blanket if you plan to arrive early
– Bug Spray
Event Time:
Arrive by 8:15pm to allow yourself to find the location and park. We’ll start the hike promptly at 8:30pm and we’ll explore the park for about 1 hour.
If you want to arrive early, bring a snack or your dinner to enjoy as you watch the sunset and the bats over the lake.
NOTE: The park closes at 10pm and therefore you must leave by then to avoid getting a ticket. If you’re interested in spending the night, please reserve a camping spot here
Meeting Location:
Meet at the Activity Center near the dumpster.
Fees:
The hike is free but you’ll need to pay the $5 per person park entrance fee if you don’t have a state park pass. Use the after-hours fee process.
