Backpacking the Lone Star Hiking Trail
Lets thru-hike the Lone Star Hiking Trail, the longest, continuously marked and maintained path in Texas.
Lets thru-hike the Lone Star Hiking Trail, the longest, continuously marked and maintained path in Texas. This is a moderately difficult, 96.5 miles path with some 30 miles of additional loops and crossover trails.
The trail sits in the Sam Houston National Forest, one of the most biodiverse areas of the USA. We will pass extensive areas of pine trees, palmetto swamps, and cross a multitude of creeks and streams.
This shaded and secluded trail is open all year round. We are planning on hiking it in late February- temperatures are cool and hunting season is over, which means we can camp anywhere along the trail except some restricted areas.
