Baroque to Boleros by Mercury Chamber Orchestra at MOT

Mercury Chamber Orchestra presents Baroque to Boleros: Songs from Latin America at Miller Outdoor Theatre, an electrifying musical journey that bridges centuries of sound and tradition. Featuring Houston-based mezzo-soprano Cecilia Duarte, the program travels from the lively rhythms and elegant dances of the Baroque era to the passionate, instantly recognizable boleros of the 20th century, celebrating the depth and diversity of Latin American musical heritage. Under the direction of Artistic Director Antoine Plante, Mercury brings these works to life using historical performance practice, creating an immersive and vibrant sound. Joined by Mercury’s core ensemble of strings, percussion, and guitar, Duarte’s expressive voice anchors a program filled with warmth, romance, and rhythmic vitality. Designed for audiences of all ages, Baroque to Boleros offers an accessible and engaging open-air concert experience – one that reflects Houston’s rich cultural landscape and Mercury’s mission to connect communities through exciting, world-class music. Meet-up time: We will meet on the lawn chair side at 7 to have cocktails and snacks. (BYO) If you arrive later, we can’t guarantee we can hold space for you, so please try to arrive within the time before the show starts.  Also, we will only check phones close to the meetup time. After that, we’ll be having fun at the event, so we won’t be looking at phones.

No Dogs: Miller Outdoor Theatre has changed its policy, and Dogs are no longer allowed at performances. This is not a BCO rule; it is a park rule. What to bring:

• Please bring a chair, food, and drinks of choice – No glass containers, as is the park’s policy.

How to find us:

• We will sit on the hill (chair section), and I’ll mark our location with a BCO sign. (Look for the BCO balloon!)

Parking: There are several parking options throughout Hermann Park to make your visit easy. The closest free lots to Miller are Lots A, C, F, G, and H. Prefer covered parking? Paid garage parking is available at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Accessible parking can be found along Hermann Park Drive for convenient access to the theatre.
