White Water Weekend

The San Marcos River stays around 72 degrees year-round and offers the perfect natural classroom for beginners and intermediate paddlers. You’ll learn and practice essential skills like:

• Ferrying
• Eddying out
• Paddle strokes
• River reading
• Rolling
• And much more!

No pressure, all fun! Instructors will be by your side to help you progress at your own pace. Whether you’re dipping your paddle in for the first time or looking to take your skills up a notch, this weekend is designed to meet you where you are.

San Marcos, TX – Just under 3 hours from Houston. You can drive in for a day… but why not stay for the full weekend of adventure, good company, and fun?

🗓️ Itinerary

Friday: (Let us now if you are arriving after these Fri night activities start.)

• 7pm Evening group dinner @ Kerby Lane Cafe in San Marcos – (you pay for dinner, not included.)
• After dinner, Lit Kayaking!  This is flat water kayaking at night! and a perfect way to ease into the weekend.
• After Kayaking, we’ll get fitted for white water boats so we can hit the ground running!

MUST add Night Light Kayaking to your RSVP below.  Kayak instruction is required to sign up for Night Light Kayaking. 

Meet at Kerbey Lane Cafe at 7pm for Dinner and 8pm we start the Lit Kayaking from here.

Saturday:

• 8:00 AM: Start with the fundamentals that you’ll use throughout your kayaking journey!
• Lunch: Bring your lunch, bars, sandwich, something that doesn’t need fridge. It’s a long paddle day so bring a little more than you think you need.
• Afternoon: Hit the river and apply what you’ve learned!
• Evening: Casual group dinner – Casa Maria’s. (Not included, pay individually)

Sunday:  Play at Rio Vista Park.  Perfect for all skill levels.

• 8:00 AM: On the water early at Rio Vista Park—less crowd, more rapids!
• 12:00 PM: Wrap up and head home tired, happy, and stoked for your next adventures
• 12:00 PM:  Small, casual BBQ at Ben’s House (included).  Don’t skip this part! This is where bonding really happens.  When you’re sharing stories from the weekend, looking at pictures and videos.

Campers:
Stay at the peaceful Shady Grove Campground (9515 FM 1979, Martindale, TX 78655).
$10 per night – cash only. Self-serve registration at the gate. Parallel park and avoid the grass.

Hotels Nearby:

• Fairfield Inn, Courtyard
• Check AirBnb / VRBO – Talk to who’s signed up if you want to share lodging.
