Sunset paddles, hiking, scenic drives or bike rides, swimming, live music and more! Our getaway weekend is back!
Sunsets, paddling, hiking, scenic drives or bike rides, swimming, live music & more! Our getaway weekend is back!
What is Rock Out Weekend (ROW)?
outdoor retreat. nights under the stars. reunion. new friends. local vibe. family dinners. sunsets. bonfires. swimming. sup. kayaking. hiking. blind wine-tasting contest. dancing and music. weekend getaway for adults.
Here’s a quick overview of what the fuss is all about. The name comes from originally renting a house to do a bike ride to Enchanted Rock (the rock) and back. But we got to the house, and no one really wanted to ride that hard, so it was more of a “hey, let’s just chill and enjoy the Hill Country”……..
Every year more people came, and we had to find a bigger house until we settled on a yearly event with a little bit of everything!

This is our annual Rock Out Weekend! We have 12 houses! with access to the river from the property, plus 5 hot tubs! HTXO will bring SUPs and tubes to use from the property (water level permitting). We’ll also set up a central area outdoors.
Watch the bats leave the cave – 2nd largest bat cave available to the public in the world! 1 million bats!! It’s so amazing!! It’s Waugh Bridge on steroids. Optional but highly recommended. Tickets purchased separately. Check calendar for separate event.
Hiking at Garner State Park* is always a popular Event!
If you want to hike at Garner State Park, you must get a day pass in advance online – free if you have a state park pass or ride with someone who has a state park pass. We will carpool so not everyone needs one but if you really want to hike, should get yours.
Hill Country State Natural Area – this is on the way… might be a good place to stop and hike on your way to ROW or on your way home. It’s about an hour from Concan. Or check the calendar because we’re going in March!
Over the outdoor activities, expect lots of socials! Wine Tasting Friday Night, game nights, visiting nearby cities, campfires, and more!

* New to HTXO or just never made it to the “Rock Out Weekend”?
Throughout the weekend, various events will be posted in the main dining hall. Hiking and biking, swimming, and kayaking. At night, 1000’s of stars and room for everyone. It’s “rustic” (don’t expect mints on the pillows) and comfortable. This year, all houses are exactly the same. We do our best to accommodate, help people find roommates if you need one, and make sure the rooms fit the people. No worries, there is no shortage of bathrooms. Each house has 1 shower and a separate toilet.
We share dinners, and breakfast items are laid out to grab as you go out the door to whatever adventure you have planned for the day
Dinners and breakfast foods are included in the price – that is, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights and Friday, Saturday Sunday mornings. We also put some lunch “fixins” out if you want to grab a sandwich to go for the day. Many people eat lunch out as they explore the surrounding area. We have some Members who are amazingly talented in the kitchen and on the grill so expect to be full and happy after dinner and ready to hang out under the stars.
And yes, we do ask everyone to pitch in and help – there will be a sign-in board for volunteering.
Before the weekend kicks off, there will be numerous events posted on the calendar for the weekend. These events always include hiking, kayaking, and biking in the area. Usually, one night has music and dancing and a wine-tasting event.
In addition to the events that are posted on the calendar, there are whiteboards for last-minute events, event changes, event ideas, and pretty much anything to do with events…….Can’t wait to have you join us!
