The trail is the Eagle Rock Loop in the Ouachita National Forest in Arkansas, about 7 hrs. drive from Houston.

This is an advanced trail with a length of 30 miles and a commutative elevation gain of 4,000 ft.

It’s a forest setting, but contrary to what you find in East Texas, you will have to climb several mountains. The vistas are spectacular. There are numerous water crossings with good quality to filter and even swimming.
