Hiking in Houston does exist! And we’re going to show you by taking you on some ‘hidden’ trails that even some native Houstonians don’t know about! And, it’s right here, inside the loop!
Join us for an hour and a half, quick-paced hike through some of the lesser-known (and more adventuresome) trails our park has to offer.
What to Wear:
These are actual trails!! Wear tennis shoes or hiking boots, as it’s easy to bang a toe on a tree root. You’ll be shocked at some of the "elevation" in the park that you wouldn’t expect from just driving by.
Wear long pants, yes, even in the summer. It helps to protect your legs from bugs, critters and branches that might jump out and bite you! 😀
What else to bring:
Water! Water is required.
Sun Protection - hat, sun glasses, long sleeves, sunscreen
Where to Park:
If the lot is full, there is plenty of street parking.
How to find the group:
Look for the HTXO & BCO signs for where the parking lot is. We’ll be on the grass at the back of that parking lot. (not standing in the parking lot.)
Never been before??
No worries! More than half of the people going have never been before and many people show up by themselves. So when you show up, if everyone looks like they have known each other for years.... Don’t worry. They likely just met. Look for the event leader and then them know it’s your first time and we’ll make sure to take care of you! 😀
